I am a mother, writer, wife, and a full time worker in corporate America. The most significantly insignificant detail is probably that I am African American and female. I believe that the black American female is the most invisible group in American society. So the next time you’re in the grocery store and you witness a black woman rolling her neck and screaming its probably less about being overcharged and more about her wishing to become visible.
According to dictionary.com a Bohemian is a person who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices; translated, this means a person who was not invited to the American party of normalcy. This person is me. I don’t live, think, or act in the stereotypical ways that my race, gender, and socioeconomic status dictate. And I have a feeling that there are many others out there like me.
